...seriously? That skywarp is one of the goofiest-looking transformers I have ever seen! Not nearly as bad as g1 broadside. It's the alt mode that I really like, anyway.

This probably won't come as a shock, but I believe Broadside doesn't look nearly as goofy as that Skywarp.

This probably won't come as a shock, but I believe Broadside doesn't look nearly as goofy as that Skywarp. One day the two of us will duel to the death. Seriously though, bs (appropriate, eh? ) looks like a flat panel of some sort standing straight up w/ a cockpit in the middle. But somehow sw looks worse than that?

Actually I believe the word was goofy. Check out his legs alone: Put the check in the mail, Destro. I won this one easily. I am being truthful in all of my "opinions." I am not just saying that the new stuff is bad because I am a G1 freak or something. I am evaluating the look of the transformers (from whatever generation) & giving my opinion. Not all G1 is great, but I would have gone with someone other than broadside to make your point. Too late now. As far as I am concerned, there is no debate.

Actually I believe the word was goofy. Check out his legs alone: What about them? They're in weird pose? At least they can be posed and aren't just a single hunk of plastic.. I don't even know what to say anymore, just a difference of opinion. I don't really see your point here, or how you "won" an opinion contest..I gave you one of the worst/goofiest looking tfs ever in broadside, that was why I selected him, but..well, there really isn't much else to say. I prefer sw, you prefer broadside.

Isn't that what I said? You're kinda touchy when it comes to this sort of thing.

Isn't that what I said? You're kinda touchy when it comes to this sort of thing. K..now I'm even more confused. How does "I win, you lose" translate to "Live and let live"? Not trying to start any flames, but, to be honest, it seemed liked you were presenting your opinion as fact and therefore obviously I was wrong, that's why I was a bit upset.

Banging your head on a wall whenever I like G1 more than a new toyline? I feel the same.
Sarcasm and truth blend together quite a bit for me sometimes - I apologize.

OK my turn. Take off the G1 blinders. Cybertron Thundercracker/Skywarp goofy? I can see it in the arms and not the legs. Now G1 Broadside being less goofy. I think not. He has no legs.
Overall in this argument though. We know that the G1 purest will scrutinies anything that deviates from how G1 was as a toy line. The rest of us embrace anything new and defend it because it is showing the advances in Transformers technology. This is an ever going argument from all.

Well then - Allow me to continue.
Just as there are G1 purists, there are also fans of the new stuff having to defend their purchases for themselves. If the designs of the newer stuff were actually half-way decent...this wouldn't be a problem.
I went to Botcon, guys. I experienced Hasbro guys laughing at their own designs. This is quite understandable. There is quite a bit of what I like to call "Transformers trash" out there. This skywarp is a large part of that.
If you want to buy a toy that looks like it came from Walgreens, then fine. If you want to compare early G1 to say...Cybertron, I would say this: 80% of G1 looks decent or better & 20% is "less than decent." This comparison is reversed for Cybertron with 20% looking decent or better and 80% being "less than decent."
I understand that the newer collectors have to deal with G1 purists all the time. This is a fact. But I cannot stand the fact that every new transformer collector feels that any G1 collector is a purist. Why is this? It's like - collector stereotyping.
I, of objective sound mind and body, believe that today's transformers are horrible. Truly! This doesn't come from G1 blinders. This comes from my own opinion and what I see. Is there something wrong with this?

I think it is apparent to all of us at this point. The problem isn't with G1 vs New Stuff, the real problem is with Canada

Wow, they are both pretty crappy. I have to side with Destro on this, at least you can try to pose Skywarp to look decent. Broadside is well....broadside.
In all objectiveness, if you grew up with G1, nothing new they come out with, unless it's G1ish looking (Masterpiece Prime), nothing new is cool as the original. If you are a little younger, and G1 was not as much part of your childhood, then you will lean towards the newer stuff. I say buy what looks cool to you and what you like, and to heck with other poeple. Quite Frankly I have G1 toys that I'm almost embarressed to have with in reaching distance as some of my $300+ batman statues. Some of the minibots look like dollar toys.

This skywarp is a large part of that. I've heard about the whole thing w/ metroplex ("We didn't work on his alt mode"), bc, yea his alt mode is horrid (love the bot mode though) but, what tfs other than that were they laughing about? I still don't see what's so horrible about sw.. I found this kinda funny/interesting bc metafeather (who never posts ) and I came up w/ those numbers reversed when we compared the two about a week ago. Every? We all know only a Sith deals in absolutes, ck. I have some g1 toys; I'd buy more if they weren't so slaggin expensive. There's nothing wrong w/ having your own opinion, I just don't see how or why cybertron toys look so horrible to you. I'm not trying to say "you're wrong, I'm right", but I just don't get it. Imo, cybertron is an amazing line. G1 was a good line for its time, but if it were released today, it would bomb horribly.

"bomb horribly" is just more fanboyism at work.
Kids wouldn't care. So long as they can see the toys that match the TV show, they are going to want the toys so they can play with them.
I am just as confused. Cyberton has created some of the worst transformers I have ever seen. The worst. I mean, many of them are right up there with G2. It is possible that Energon might rank up there with them, but that is opinion from someone else around here that might or might not want to come out of the woodwork...
It's weird. Things really come and go. I have no idea how often the designers at Hasbro/Takara are "changed out." Many times, it is obvious that they have cut the budget on the toys themselves due to how they are made.
Look at the quality of G2 through early Beast Wars. It is definitely near the bottom. Then you hit some of the mid to later Beast Wars, and things start looking a whole lot better. This sort of thing just happens.
There are gems here and there, but then you get some bad molds & then repaints of those bad molds...and suddenly the bad numbers stack up again.
I just think we are in one of those periods where things are down. I believe the Hasbro has actually evaluated their current scenario & possibly found this to be true. This might be one reason to shake things up quite a bit or take time off. Who knows what direction things go? I suppose that Astrotrain looks kinda neat, but what else are they going to do? We'll have to wait and see.
I didn't want a big discussion on all of this, but this gives an idea of where I am coming from & that it is not just an idea of "this is not as good as G1."
You made light of my "every" comment, yet you are considered to be included in this bunch. Look back at the front of the thread. No sooner did I make a negative comment about a "current transformer" then I have to deal with ribbing of it being "better" than some G1 figure. Why? This brings about my question (although reworded) again -
Why do fans of the new stuff have to "justify coolness" by comparing it to G1 and mentioning how much better it is? This is a weakness. If person A has to justify to person B that their item is better than the item person A is interested in, then this is evidence to me that person A is actually insecure in what they own & what their own opinion is.
So if somebody want to express their opinion on Cyberton & its toys, do it - just do it without having to compare it to G1. It has become very cliche and insulting at times. (Thus explaining an emotional reaction from me)
