OHHH! I am like that, too! I shop for groceries at Super Wal-Mart and the toy section is the first thing I hit...then to DVD's, and games last...then I go for groceries....those places are evil!

I'm with you there...I will have a perpetual car payment the rest of my life....I had my Grand Am for 9 years, but when it crapped out, it did it in a big way and we basically limped it to the dealership to trade it in on an Explorer Sport. OK...so I didn't know that you had to have the transmission fluid changed on any schedule...it varnished on the inside and the debris eventually broke loose and the car got stuck in 2nd gear on the way to trade it in...it would only go in reverse...but they at least gave me $1000.00 for it...I just bought a Honda Element...I call it my own Transformer....because it is such a versatile vehicle.... But after all the problems I had with the Grand Am, I decided a car payment is not so bad, so i buy a new car every 3 or 4 years. I loved not having a car payment for about 5 years, but I know nothing about cars...like you, probably just know where to put the gas and check the oil.... I did that for awhile, but decided that I needed to get some money into my savings, and with the minimal miles that I drive now is the time to do it. The car is still in pretty good shape and does get its regular maintance, its due for its 60,000 check up probably next month or June at the latest. I figure unless something happens to prevent it I'll keep this car for three or four more years, probably have around 100,000 on it by then give or take then get something thats new to me, low miles but not new just to save a few bucks.

Car problems are the last thing I want to deal with. Probably because of my lack of knowledge about them. I am not very mechanically minded, so it is interesting that TF's are a huge hobby for me. I bought a house last year and have been making an effort to do a lot of the home projects myself. I just put a wheelbarrow together today, and that in itself was difficult for me...but I got it together and all is good!

regular oil and other fluid changes are important and a tune up every couple of years goes a long way.

Whats somewhat funny is that I have a history of managing to make stuff work with horrible tool supplies. The grocery store owner where I use to work use to call me the forgive the term king of "n*gger rigging" But for stuff like cars half @ss just isn't good enough. As for the store, I usually hit the toys first, and then groceries well after stopping in the pet section to see if they have something my cat will enjoy. Must keep him away from my near floor figure displays after all. Usually skip the dvd's because I can get most of what I want online for cheaper.

You know, I did all the regular maintainance stuff, but no one mentioned to me about the transmission thing....I was pretty clueless!

Ever since I discovered DeepDiscount DVD.com, it has really saved me a lot of money...at least on the box sets. Usually if I buy a DVD, I buy it the day it comes out at Wal-Mart or wait till Target sells it for $14.44 or less.
I hit the pet section as well...I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. sounds like a lot of animals, but they are small dogs and it is a pretty good sized house, so the animals ahve their own room...My toy room is off limits to them all...I caught my littlest dog carrying He-Man around and I freaked!

So that means I would have to read my manual...I have never read any of my manuals....because it all seemed to technical for me....I was like where do you put the gas and where do I check the oil...LOL....I have it set up with Honda to send reminders for service and what needs to be done....My dealership offers that service, so they just send me an email and schedule an appointment on line....I actually looked through my quick guide. We just bought a 2004 Acura TL in November and then got the Element in December...the nice thing is they have the full manual, but they also now have the quick reference guide, which is a flip chart...I like that!
