Pulled from TFW2005.
Don Murphy has posted more info at DonMurphy.net about the Transformers Live Action Movie.
Many things to answer here on the fly.
There's a sh*tload of rumors that you guys take as facts out there. There are NO voice actors yet. There may be soon. I will personally make sure that our director considers Frank and the gang. I think celebrity voices for a film like this is moronic.
Someone out there is telling you that there aill no be toys for this movie from Hasbro? Dream on. That's the very reason they WANT a film from Steven Spielberg.
NOTHING is decided. IN MY OPINION knowing how Hollywood works---
1- I do not see mass shifting happening. 2- I do not see a giant robot turning into a cassette player. 3- Hasbro will not have a toy that turns into a pistol. 4- I just saw the robots in SKY CAPTAIN at Comic-Con- we want ours to be the opposite of those. Personalities!
We are NOT doing anything to do with Beasts and Dinos and sh*t.
I think Soundwave is the burger with cheese and sauce. I think his "tapes" are badass.
Maybe you're right- maybe he never changes.
Dunno.
Keep talking- you can tell we are really listening.
The next few weeks will have us, ala X MEN, decide on 7 core members of each team. Desanto will be there to make sure we stay true.
Your input is NOW.
See Don's original thread by clicking DonMurphy.net. And be sure to chime in with your thoughts.
Thanks to Seibertron for the news.

I love Don Murphy. While others will just keep quite, at least he'll come out and kill rumors (even if rather bluntly). But he's not only killing rumors, he's asking for opinions and ideas. He knows what he wants to do, but he doesn't want to leave the fans behind.

I was pretty sure they were not going ot go the Sky Captain route...thank goodness....I mean it si fine for that movie, but TF's is special...
It sounds like Don is trying to find a way to incorporate Soundwave and the "tapes" into the movie without it looking hokey...
I don't like thta Megatron will more than likely not be a gun, though...that is orignal TF mythos...that shouldn't be messed with...now on the merchandising side of things....The toys should be alternator-esque....this will be interesting!
No matter how it turns out...we are getting a live action TF movie and that is awesome!

I don't like thta Megatron will more than likely not be a gun, though...that is orignal TF mythos...that shouldn't be messed with... I've been hearing this opinion a lot, and to be honest I have been certain that Megatron would NOT be a gun. Guns are not politically correct, especially for main characters that will be made into TOYS. And it isn't different because he's an evil villain - they KNOW Megs will be a popular character. Will there be people who don't care, yes. Will there be fans outraged over the change, yes. But the crowd that will be heard the most is the anti-gun lobby. They will have to market to the largest audience to get a profit, and they know TF fans will come to see the movie almost no matter what is in it - and the anti-gun lobbyists get a infinitely more mass media time than the TF fanboys. Don't get me wrong - I would much prefer Megs as a gun, but I am resigned to the reality of the situation. I am expecting a tank, since that has been the bulk of Meg's incarnations since G2.

Look at this Megatron not being a gun issue in a different light. A good majority of the current fan base are BW and Armada created fans. So Megs being a tank will no be that bad for them. This will also introduce Transformares to several brand new fans. However this goes. People that don't want it to be good will say it wasn';t good afterword. Just hope for the best and expect the worst. Just be ready for some mind blowing special effects, and the best performance that Hasbro can pay for.

I much prefer Megatron not be a gun. I was never a fan of that alt mode (cartoon not toy). And I was never a fan of the size morphing. So I'm glad to hear that it won't be in the movie.
As many have said, this movie is going to cater to people from all walks, not just TF fans. So that means alot of things will most definately change. But it's about the heart of the story. The struggle between a power hungry maniac and a commander who will stop stop at nothing to protect life.
They will be from Cybertron, they will be massive in size and the battles will be huge. As long as their is a good script, good cast and good special fx, then this movie will be a "can't miss" event.

and the best performance that Hasbro can pay for. Rather, the best performance that Hasbro can GET PAID for. Hasbro has a history of being rather possessive about the licenses they still retain. When Mainframe got to the second season of Beast Wars and brought in their future version of G1 Ravage, they wanted to both use the original transforming sound effect and have the G1 theme as part of the soundtrack. Hasbro put such outrageous prices on both that Mainframe was only able to AFFORD (not just justify) one - the sound effect. And this was selling to a company they hired to create a market for the new toy line ......

I love g1 as much as anyone, but megs as a gun had too many weak points. He had to have someone else to aim and fire, so on his own his alt mode was useless. But, since this is a g1 movie, I would've liked to see megs as a gun, but for many reasons that's just not gonna happen. Frankly, I'm more anxious to hear what they'll do with Soundwave.

Well, I think overall....this is going to be a nice meld of all TF mythos....so maybe megs will be a tank...no prob...They cna't make a toy gun and if they could, on screen it would have to shrink to be useable even for a decepticon, so that throws that out, since DOn Murphy said they will not do the Shrinking thing...
I really want to see the Seekers....I think overall they will be the absolute best, next to Prime....I think this will be a new beginning for another successful TF launch...make no mistake, they will probably have a comic about the movie even if it is a one-shot movie edition...now the challenge may be..how do we make the seeker toys movie like...which may segway into alternators and us getting actual planes in the alternators line...if it is still around in 2006...
Lots of good things can happen witht his...the only thing I don't like is this DOn Murphy character...very unprofessional in his posts...I don't think when you represent TF's/Hasbro/Takara/Dreamwave/and to some extent Steve Spielberg, you should be using expletives...I am turned off to this guy already...but with Dreamwave and SPielberg involved...this will probably rock no matter how it turns out!
