If you have a valid copy of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 you can upgrade to Windows 10 free for the first 12 months after its release date. This offer is geared to the home user and excludes the following business class version: Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise, and Windows RT/RT 8.1

I would not continue to use XP, however Windows 7 is a great OS. I am using it as we speak. I have Windows 10 on my girls computer and it works OK. I just wish Microsoft would stop being so heavy handed with it.

I did do it and boy it started to screw things up so I went back I screwed up my PC as well. I had Windows 8.1 and it was working great. Went to 10 and it got all screwed up. So I redid everything and just installed Windows 7(I could not find my license key to Windows 8). Windows 10 is working great on my girls computer, but I think that is because I did a clean install, not an upgrade.
