Hey all -
Shout! Factory has taken over the handling of the original Sunbow libraries (Original Transformers, G.I. Joe, etc...). We know that Transformers is getting a new release, and now we know that G.I. Joe is as well!
While the Rhino releases were bad, Transformers did get its entire series released before Rhino stopped cranking out DVDs. G.I Joe fell short of getting the complete series released. Similar to the Rhino Transformers release, G.I. Joe is certainly out of print & can be expensive to obtain.
All of that no longer matters as Vivendi Entertainment (Shout!s distributor) told retailers that G.I. Joe - A Real American Hero Season 1, Part 1 is going to be available as a 4 DVD set (700 minutes) on July 21st.
No extras are set in stone, but apparently there are going to be quite a few. The same holds true for the Transformers series - plenty of extras. That said, no details as of yet.

NICE!! I just hope the set sells well enough that they actually FINISH the series this time, and not leave us hanging like Rhino did. If the set has enough special features, I'll probably go for the double-dip. I'll definitely be getting the TF Season 1 set too, since the Rhino version of season 1 was a disaster.
