Does anyone else watch The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross on PBS? He is dead now, but I still enjoy watching him paint. If it was not for the fact that buying all the stuff needed is expensive, I would try my hand at painting.

I will give you that he is very entertaining to watch (squirrel in the hair and all), but having somewhat of a fine arts background I can tell you that his techniques are the same ones that are used by the production painters from the Starving artists truckload sales.
I apologize if that came off a little harsh, but if you really want to learn how to paint your money would be better spent elsewhere.

Dont worry Bear, I am hard to offend. LOL For me I think I enjoy watching him paint more than I think I would actually painting. But when I retire, it may be worth giving it a shot. Right now I just dont have to time for it.
On another note Bear, were you a painter? Or was it another type of art?

Back in my early years I did a lot of painting with oils, watercolor and acrylics. I also did a lot of cartoon characers in colored pencil and inks.
It has been a good 15 years since I picked up a paint brush. I had a big history of big projects that didn't get 100% done. I did get honorable mention in the state Gold Keys 2 years in a row. Both projects of which I didn't have 100% done ;D
