We've had some debates about this guy, so I thought I'd put up a review (besides, this forum hasn't gotten much love in awhile
). I finally found him a few days ago and I just opened him today. Sorry for no pics besides one I stole; again, no digital camera.
He's pretty much what I thought I'd get; great bot mode, so-so alt mode. He has some nice features (nice minicon, minicon storage, cool headsculpt), but like I said his alt mode isn't much to look at. I did find this pic of a scrapmetal-like alt mode for him, so I might put him in this mode:![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/destro_prime/menasormech.jpg)
I'm having a hard time putting the minicon between the cow-catcher, there doesn't seem to be anything it attaches to. Also, the instructions show two other modes for each..mode..the robot mode has an inbetween mode where his legs are bent called a "work mode" and the alt mode has another mode where the arms/drills are higher up called a "battle mode". They're really reaching for something in both cases. The articulation is good besides one thing; bc of the forearms that reach out past the elbows, the elbow articulation is limited; that's why in pics of him you see his elbows slightly tilted forward.
Bottom line: he's definitely an acquired taste. I bought him for the bot mode so I'm not disappointed. I like the colors, articulation, and minicon usage. He seems like a Giant Planet type; no reason to be in disguise, since they're all..giant robots w/ nothing to hide from. His alt mode is original yet a bit too uninspired for my tastes. Some have made the argument that his alt mode is that way bc he's not a robot in disguise and it's a whole "function over form" idea. I can see that as an imaginative, fun way to picture things, but in a more realistic way it can just as easily be said that hastak was lazy. So, for me, the alt mode is a mixed bag; original, yet could've been more inspired. Still, I like the bot mode enough to say that I like this tf and am glad I bought him.
