....Nice Kitty.
"The rocket base is 140 kilometers due west of the Autobot camp" - Ravage, More than Meets the Eye, Part III. I am not sure if Ravage had any other dialogue than that, but he made up for lack of dialogue with that mechanical growling we always heard. Ravage is one member of the original "fab four" cassettes that Soundwave carried around. (Everybody always forgets Buzzsaw) He was typically dispatched for land-based reconnaissance and combat. Usually, the Autobots did not quite know how to contain him. He would play the part of the loose, lethal animal, and the Autobots would try to corral him. Ravage would usually hit a guy and get away, slap a tracking beacon on something, or do some sort of mischievous thing which would hurt the Autobots in the near future.
Ravage is probably one of the most disappointing cassettes. In the cartoon, he was one of the more rounded cassettes. This does not translate well when trying to transform a rectangle toy into a rounded one. The only people I know of that were able to make a square and a round object congruent were those involved in the Apollo 13 space mission. That said, I don’t find the Ravage cassette an actual “disappointment” by any means.
I never had a Ravage cassette. The only cassette I remember wanting was Laserbeak.
Toy Facts:
Ravage is a typical Soundwave cassette, which in this case, transforms into a jaguar. Transformation from cassette to jaguar is pretty easy. Sometimes transforming him back into cassette can be a little challenging. Some cassettes underwent various production changes over time. Ravage in particular had three different versions of his eyes: small gold, gray, and large gold. His weapons are both chromed and really make the transformer in my opinion.
Disappointments:
Well, he doesn’t look much like his cartoon counterpart. This is to be expected however. Sometimes, he can be hard to balance properly when in jaguar mode.
Collecting Ravage:
Make sure that the cassette tape paint on his right side hasn’t faded. Note that his front right paw also has a little paint (a line) on it. Beware of chrome-wear. Lots of angles and rounded areas on those Metroid missile-like weapons. Make sure the chrome is in good shape.
There is no G2 version of Ravage.
The rubsign is located on the shoulder on his left side. To my knowledge, there is no visible copyright information printed on Ravage. Perhaps this could be verified?
