![](http://img44.photobucket.com/albums/v136/TTC_Forum/op.gif) Today I ordered my first Star Wars Sideshow item. I signed up recently to be able to get their Exclusive Obi-Wan Kenobi. The pre order for members was today 12:00 to 2:00 CST. I had to order it on my lunch break. Being on dial up and the crush of folks wanting it. It took me a bit to get through. But I was able to make it. They sold out of 1750 Excluxive Obi-Wans in 1 hr and 9 mins. Which is like 25 a minuet. So I was glad to score one. Getting this Sideshow stuff is crazy. This is their third figure in their new 12" line. The first was Luke Skywalker in Jedi gear, second was Anakin from ROTS, now third Obi-Wan from ROTS. I think it is an incredible piece. Sideshow does the high end Star Wars stuff. Obi-Wan was $50, but I think well worth it, for the quality of the item. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) It does not ship until Q2 of this year, so I'm excited for it to get here. I have been very impressed with the sideshow 12" stuff. It would cost a small fortune to collect it all...but if you like 12" figures, sideshow is the company to go with.
In fact, it is a shame that the "tall" figure line has kinda gone sour with Kenner/Hasbro over the past decade+. I really liked the vintage 12" figures & always wished there were more. It would seem that by 1995, the ability to create figures of that size would be easier & the sculpts would look a lot better. This was not the case, and I think that they ended up looking *older* rather than newer when they were released. They definitely had that "doll" look to them. (Plastered expression, rigid arms and legs....you know what I mean)
Sideshow has definitely brought about some quality to the Star Wars 12" line that is worth applauding. I hope to see more of these, and it looks like they are doing a good job cranking them out. With their big announcement that they acquired the rights to the Lord of the Rings 12" figure line, I forsee great exposure to the action figure market & hope that many other lines will pursue sideshow for their figures.

![](http://img44.photobucket.com/albums/v136/TTC_Forum/op.gif) I completely understand what you are saying CK. I have always been a big fan of the Hasbro 12" line. That line has been part of my core of collecting over the years. I have like 80% of the Hasbro 12" line from 1995/96 to 2005. There were some stinkers in that line, and there were some great ones. I can say that when I heard last year that Hasbro lost the 12" licence I was sort of upset because I was such a fan of the line even with all thier problems. But I then thought OK now I'll save some $ and not have to keep buying them. Then when I read the announcement that Sideshow got the 12" rights I was in a wait to see what they looked like mode before I made a judgement on them. Once they started showing them I was like WOW! They do incredible work. But unlike the Hasbro line at $20 a pop, more for excluxives, vehicle sets, etc, I can't be a completist with Sideshow at $50+ a figure. So I am only going to be geting the figures or versions of figures not made in the Hasbro line. That's what made Obi-Wan my first. Because there had not been a Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan made yet. Plus I could not let CK be the only one here who has orderd from Sideshow yet. ;D
