There's not much you can do on your own other than occasionally bomb and set out Raid bait traps. All that you'll do is chase them out of your place and into your neighbor's (which is probably what happened to you).
The best thing is to get everyone in your building together and get the management to have the entire building treated all at once. That will either kill them or at least drive them outside. There's not a permanent solution, but having each apartment only treated when that apartment spots infestations only chases the problem around.
If anyone in the building doesn't want to join initially, remind them that roaches have no concept of apartment boundaries, especially when they're running from a bug bomb or exterminator.

There is one more thing you can do. Buy some Boric Acid. It comes in a powder. Put it in places like under the refridgerator, inside the lower cabinets (not where dishes or food are stored but under sinks and stuff), and behind your large appliances (stove, washer/dryer). Word of caution: DO NOT put it anywhere you think that your daughter might eat it. It is POISON!!! But it is VERY effective at keeping roaches away. As long as you make sure you keep her and your pets out of it (the pets won't bother it intentionally - it smells bad to them- only by accident) you should be fine. It's only dangerous if ingested.
Trust me it works. I've used it for a long time, and never had any of the girls have any problems with it.

Does the Boric Acid work good for other pests like Crickets or mice for that matter?

I know for sure that it repells most insects. I'd have to look it up to see if it repells mice, but I know for sure that it will kill them if they eat it.
