As we continue to talk about the next generation of gaming consoles, I still can't help but shake my head at nintendo.
It seems as if the only thing they are shooting for is price. I just read about the lack of dolby digital support (actually - it will have no digital audio output of ANY kind). This with the ability to only run up to 480p. I do believe it supports widescreen, but come on! Couldn't you have at least done 720p or 1080i? Nevermind the fact that 1080p sets have been available for some time now.
I guess this explains their cheap price. I only hope that when the hardware is in action, the "behind the times" hardware of the console will at least render things smoothly. I really wonder other than the gimmicky type of stuff how much better this thing is then the gamecube.
Kinda ironic that the developers name for it was "revolution."

I figure that I wouldn't miss HD on the Wii too much because the relatively meager hardware will probably need to render everything at low-res anyway. However, I am optimistic about the Wii. I have always been excitable about cool game input devices. And if the controller works as advertised, it is most definitely cool, IMO. If the Wii is cheap, I think I may just get one. If it is over about $200, forget it. I definitely won't be interested in playing any games that don't take advantage of the controller to the fullest extent, nor will I be interested in buying old games that I can emulate for free.

Heh - Well you know I am a console collector in general, so add this to my list regardless. There are a few games I want to play on the system, but I can't help but feel disappointed due to the below average quality they will be when you consider the era of gaming in which they are releasing this console.
I agree - if over $200 - I'll wait.
