Read between the lines, guys. That was Sony making a poke at microsoft. Obviously, but why would they both recommend a competitor's product? They're either worried or think the wii will amount to nothing..I think.

Sony and Microsoft represent the largest part of the console gaming market, and they are having fun insulting each other by saying the Nintendo is the best choice for a second console.

But why would they do that? It's not like nintendo has no chance. Sure ps2 has been #1 for awhile, but gamecube has been #2, in a way (it was more profitable than xbox; ms simply kept throwing money at it). Also, nintendo is doing just fine in japan and other parts of asia, especially w/ the ds. I can see nintendo giving the 360 and the overpriced ps3 (what a ridiculous argument about "value" from sony) a run for their money.

Actually, the price of the PS3 makes perfect sense as it is one of the early machines with Blue Ray support + it can play most of the PSX & PS2 games.

Actually, the price of the PS3 makes perfect sense as it is one of the early machines with Blue Ray support + it can play most of the PSX & PS2 games. The only problem is that many people aren't willing to pay that much for a video game system, and, from what I've seen of blue ray so far, it doesn't seem worth it.

Err? Not worth it compared to what? HD-DVD? I hope that Blue Ray wins out over HD-DVD, but I will probably not jump a gun to buy one or the other. I plan on picking up a PS3, so that will "automatically" open me up to the world of B.R. I wonder what movies will be available in that format when the PS3 is released. I am not certain of the Blue Ray launch schedule.
People will complain about the price, but there are plenty who are already committed to buy due to the games being released for the system.
Casual gamers may elect to buy the new Nintendo, but the hardcore gamers drive the market.

I think that the PS3 is going to flop. I just think that the price is way to high. The hardcore market may get it, but the casual gamer and parents will not. Money is way to tight these days to buy a $500 game system. Sure it can do other things, but most people will see it and say: "$500? That is way too much for a game console."

The price will come down over time - but there is no way it will flop. It will probably lead the market once again. There is just way too much of a Sony fanbase to let the issue of money get in the way. People will complain of course...but they'll still buy it. It's always about the games. People were paying $90 for games for the N64 when it came out & I thought that was just ridiculous. If the games people want to play are released for PS3, they'll pay for it.
It's just like us saying "I am not going to pay that much for that Transformer." Then you get a chance to see it & you're like...."hmmmm..." and the chemicals in your body get to work...and suddenly your credit card/checkbook emerges. Hahaha.

I don't think the PS3 will flop. There are tons of people out there who would buy it even if it came with a 486. However, it surely won't be worth the $600 price tag to me. It's performance should be superior to the 360, but not by a lot. I expect the difference to be similar to the Xbox 1 vs PS2 comparison. And since there is no clear victor in the next-gen DVD format wars, I don't think the premium for it is worth it right now. (They say Blu-Ray makes up about 40% of the cost of the PS3).
If the Wii is cheap, I'll probably buy it as a second console. CK- which games in particular are you looking forward to on the PS3?

Definitely Final Fantasy XIII. Gran Turismo. Metal Gear....typical games for Sony systems. Makes sense they use those titles on or close to launch time - OR want to make sure that at least have something for them at E3.
Mobile Suit Gundam also looks good. (And a *must* if you get a PS3 and we can do multiplayer on it. At least...a must by graphics standards - gameplay could always be bad. I dunno)

Well my big selling point for any of the 3 is affordability. Second point will be the games. Considering all I play anymore is Metroid. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will have me buying the Wii.

Haven't really seen much to Metroid Prime 3 that I like. MP2 was MP1 with small changes. MP3 looks to be the same.
Probably why I never finished MP2. That said, I am playing it right now. Maybe about 3 hours in.

Some sort of shock got it, I guess.
It's great that I can say this - but after abandoning MP2 not too long after I bought it over a year and a half ago, I am actually looking forward to getting home to play it after work everyday. Hahaha.
