Destro this is mostly geared toward you, but I wanted it to be public discussion. Anyone else can jump in.
What do you think of Street Fighter III? Specifically SFIII: 3rd Strike, I suppose. It sounds like it is regarded as the best SF in regard to 2D animation. Do you agree? What do you think of the difficulty?

Honestly, I'm not sure if I've ever played this version of sf; this game came out around 2000 I believe, and I really wasn't into video games at the time. AFAIK, the "only" versions I've played are sf2, sf2:ce, sf2: turbo, super sf2, and sf alpha 3 (I may be forgetting a version or two). I've seen pics, and they look awesome.
Have you seen the gameplay videos of sf4? They look interesting..

I'm not really going for their move to 3D. Maybe they'll have a demo out close to release time. I kinda neat it in my hands. I will say that the faces look terrible, though. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

I'm not a big fan of the faces either; the game won't be released for at least a year, possibly nearly two, so hopefully there'll be improvements. I didn't mean to hijack your thread; what do you think of 3rd Strike? the parrying system? I've looked up a bit of info, and its complete lack of Sagat doesn't make me happy; the still pics look really nice, though.

I haven't really played enough of it - that is if I have even played it at all. I remember being in an arcade (remember those?) and seeing Street Fighter III (holy cow! SF *3*??). I went over there and played it a bit against just the computer I believe it was. I wouldn't go so far as to say I didn't know what I was doing as you tend to have certain instincts for that sort of game, but the game definitely appeared to require more study.
The only meters and stats I was used to were the health bar and the timer. Haha! That's it. That parry system and getting to know all the characters seemed like quite a bit of work. I was long removed from the SF franchise at that point, so I didn't give it a second thought.
But NOW...with emulation...I am going to try again.

I think part of the reason I'm not into sf like I used to be is bc of all those other bars and meters all over the place..I feel like an old man saying that (back in my day, we just had a health meter and we were happy to have it!), and I've never made an effort to figure out all these new-fangled special-move meters. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Good luck to ya though, and maybe you can help me understand some of it as well. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
