Rumor is 2 of the major manufacturers will be changing their platforms for next season. The biggest change will be at Dodge. The 2 year old Charger will be replaced by the brand new Avenger. The Avenger debuted last week at the Paris auto show. Basically a mini Charger. The other manufacturer is Chevy. They will be using the Impala SS in all of the COT (Car of Tomorrow) races. They will still use the Monte Carlo SS in all non COT races. Also in the rumors. By 2010 the what is now the Busch Series it is possible manufacturers will change out to the sportier cars in their lineups. Examples would be The redesigned Mustang, New Camaro, Toyota Avalon, and the all new Challenger. Source of the news is here at Yahoo Sports.

Toyota ....Avalon? Isn't that supposed to be a luxury car? What about the Lincoln Towncar? Why not bring that in?

The Avalon is a smaller sportier car. Its about the only thing in Toyota's lineup that would fit in.

Hmm. Unless they made some recent changes, I'll always just see it as a luxury car.
