Don't let me overhype it though. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Wow! I was blown away by this movie. It thrilled me, it made me laugh, and it made me cry. (I'm dead serious too) The driving force for this movie? Characters. It is the *characters* that make this film. Many times, good vs. evil is established in any given movie, evil has an agenda & good must stop it. It is a standard formula, and the action paves the way to the (usually weak) plot w/ characters being thrown to the side. Throw in a side romance which doesn't make sense & there is your movie. Not Spiderman 2. NOT Spiderman 2. It puts the characters on the front burner & turns the film from a movie into an experience. The movie tips its hat to the die-hard Spiderman fans, says "hope you enjoyed the first one" to the general movie-goers, then rubs its hands together and dives in. The opening credits alone get you in the mood. The acting is pretty darn good. While some of it might seem over-the-top at times, it is supposed to be. It's a movie based on comics. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone out there. If you haven't seen the first one, watch that and go see this one. You'll love every minute.

I saw it yesterday at 12 am when my gf practically dragged me to the theatre. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I wouldn't call it the best movie I've ever seen (that would be either awakenings or monster bc of theron's amazing performance), but it was definitely a great movie. Admittedly I know little about spiderman other than what I've seen in these two movies, so if the story doesn't match the comic in any way I'd have no idea. As far as the acting, there was some definite cheesiness, but it seemed to be intended. The main actors, esp. the guy who plays Doc Ock, are pretty good: I'm not the biggest Kirsten Dunst fan, though. **spoilers ahead** I found large parts of the movie depressing bc of Peter's problems w/ mj, his friend Harry, losing his powers for awhile, and telling aunt may the truth about ben's death. There's also the fact that Doc Ock is really a good guy who is corrupted by his own technology and it costs him everything. This surprised me bc I thought I was in for more of a "feel-good, good guys-always-win" type of film. It has some of those elements, but it is more than your typical action film, as ckrtech has already stated. It also sets up the next movie well, which I've heard will be coming on in may of 2007. I will say it's the best movie I've seen in the theater in quite awhile so I definitely recommend it. Personally one of the things my gf and I could relate to was the relationship between Doc Ock and his wife: he being the "science guy" and she being the book-worm literature lover. My gf is a definite science geek and I'm an English major so for us their relationship was much like our own.

Jo'Roq and I saw this Saturday night. It was as everyone says, excellent. It was a very well told story that covered the entire emotional spectrum. The first Spiderman movie was Man v. Man. This one was more of Man v. Himself, which turned him into a more complete character.
If you haven't seen it yet, GO!

I have to agree. This actually probably was one of the best movies ever made. Knowing a good portion of the Spider-Man mythos...it was very true to the story, yet it seemed very real. It was more character development this time, which was fantastic...it really made you feel the characters....
...and Doc Ock was the best!
