It's already busted the midnight showing record set by Star Wars Episode III and the opening day record set by Spiderman 3. The opening weekend record (also Spiderman 3) is apparently in danger of being broken as well. Maybe Spidey needs to pack more Bat repellant ..... ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I just saw it today, myself (..wait..I guess it's yesterday at this point). It was a pretty good movie. I think I would apply the term "suspenseful" when describing it.

Wow. That's about all I can say with the words allowed.
WB is already claiming the weekend record, and that was this morning (Sunday).

imdb currently has Dark Knight box office for opening weekend at $155 million. The movie's budget was estimated at about $150 million.
Breaking even with opening weekend? Sets you up for some profits.
Speaking of imdb, The Dark Knight now sits at the #1 spot on imdb. It's ranked #1 at 9.7/10 with near 47,000 votes. When I checked yesterday, it was about the same with 24,000 votes.

Finally saw it tonight; I didn't think it could live up to the massive hype, and it didn't. It was still a good movie, but it seemed a bit dragged out at times, and, for a batman movie, it didn't seem to have enough batman..
I also thought that the joker would be more prominent, w/ all the oscar talk and such. Ledger was very good as the joker, but I don't see this as an oscar-worthy performance.
************possible spoilers ahead************
I kinda wish two-face would've been a close friend of bruce's, like he was in the 90's cartoon, and the comic iirc. I always liked their dynamic, as bruce/batman tried to save his friend, and the emotional appeal that plotline brought. I also wish dent/two-face had lived to be in the next film, but then I'm biased bc two-face is probably my favorite batman villain.
I did like the anarchy presented by the joker (his plan was that he had no plan), and how he, to some extent, pointed out the hypocrisy of our society. Imagine andy kaufman as a serial killer, and maybe you'd get the joker.
EDIT: I do think that I need to see it again; I had a headache, and some.."audience annoyances" may have skewed my view of the film, and in a film like this I think I'll like it more the second time around..

Finnally got to see it last night, and I have to agree with the"WOW!" sentiment going around.
This is one of the best adaptations to a comic book in a long time. I am not a Batman expert, but I read all 4 of his titles in the 90's so I know a thing or two. Gordon was masterfully played. I loved the interaction between he and Bats.
Even though I knew we would see Two-Face I thought it would be nothing more then a cameo setting up a third movie at the end. I would have to say it was one of the best kept secrets in Hollywood that a second villian would be in this movie.
One problem I had with Burton's and Cameron's Batman is that he would kill with out predudice. It made me glad to see Nolan's had that scrupple about him.
Ledger's performance, although very good, was one of the few things that did not live up to the hype.
My only real problems with the movie is I hate the Tumbler Batmobile (was glad to see it destroyed) and the fact that so many people seem to know Batman's identity.

I was talking to a friend of mine about this movie and Ironman, and we came to the conclusion that ironman is the better superhero movie, but TDK is a better crime drama-style movie, and the better film overall.
I can see Ledger winning an oscar for best supporting actor, but not best actor.
..and like some believe, I'm really hoping two-face isn't dead; the "funeral" was for harvey dent.
