It took 18 hours to get from Houston to Dallas. Distance between the two if you take I-45 is somewhere between 220 and 240 miles I think. (To set things in perspective).
It usually takes about 4 hours.
We were all pretty dead when we got here. We had left Thursday morning at 3 a.m.
Convention is pretty cool - good turnout. Lots of sales.
Statistics have shown that about ~18% to 20% of Transformers collectors (of the states) live in Texas. Wow! It makes sense with membership across E.S. The Friday dealer room "preview" has been pretty good. Lots of bots and money have flown.
I already have about three other stories, but I will take care of those at a later time.
Back to the con!

Some interesting things early on -
Friday was pretty smooth. They gave the dealers a lot of time to get set up, and I think most of them took their time to get things ready. There were some empty tables up until the end of Friday. I am wondering if there were some dealers that decided to not come because of possible Rita complications, but I think that is a little too much. Dallas is pretty far in - Bad weather is probably gonna happen...but I don't think it is worth bailing on. Ahh well.
I have a small Hasbro story. I was walking around after the convention started and was snapping pictures of the Hasbro booth. I noticed they were having problems with the TV monitor they had set up in the corner of the booth. I am big into home theater and various other A/V things - so I dropped by and lent them a hand. It was kinda neat getting to work with the Hasbro crew on something. I am assuming it is their marketing team since that is who usually goes to represent a company at an event or convention. (At least, from what I have seen) The TV was having some vertical hold issues among other things (display was taking half of the screen). In the long run, the problem turned out to be a monitor. (They had a backup. Sweet!). The only real contribution I gave was "Do you have an S-video cable?" while we were trying to fix it. So now they have a better picture. (Even though they could do component if they had the cables) If you don't know what that means, the bottom line is they have a better picture now.
The voice actors and guests are in the same room as the dealership. This is a welcomed change this year as compared to last year (OTFCC that is) The panels are actually in a semi-seperate room. A large curtain divides the dealer room from the panel room.
I have a decent haul already & haven't gone "parts hunting" yet. We are having an official parts night in our hotel room tonight. I hope to score a lot of stuff to help fill out my collection.
That said though, I am still trying to figure out if I am already over budget.

![](http://img44.photobucket.com/albums/v136/TTC_Forum/op.gif) WOW CK 18 hours that's a heck of a trip. It might as well been in Chicago again. I'm glad you are there safe and all. Glad to hear you were able to help those Hasbro dudes out. Maybe they could give you some free TFs for you trouble. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I hope you have a great time there and you get all the TFs you are after. I would have loved to be there. But we will have to see what happens next year. Have fun my friend and good luck. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
