A few weeks ago my wife and I found out that she is pregnant. Right now my wife is 11 weeks along. But we have more good news. We found out today that we are having twins. We are very excited about that. When we got home we called our parents and they are beside themselves with joy.

Wow! Congratulations.
What are the odds that two families of E.S. would have twins? ;D

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! When the excitement fades, and reality sets in, we'll still be here. Feel free to question, rant, or brag to us at any time. It is an amazing adventure, and I wish you the best. Here's hoping they are healthy, that there are no complications with the pregnancy, and that your road will be smoother than ours.

Just think - Energon Station could carry an entire doublemint commercial in a few years. ;D Except I don't think they do those commercials anymore.

Alter_Ego, did you guys have twins? If so I will be having a lot of questions from you guys later on. Yes, we do have twins (identical girls, 2 1/2 years old). It was a complicated pregnancy (the absolute rarest complication unique to identical twins), so we should be able to help you with just about any questions. AE has links to a lot of websites for info and support groups for anything we're not sure about. Send a PM to either of us if you want to start browsing them. Two questions: 1. Did they identify the sexes yet? 2. Can they tell if they are identical or fraternal yet?

1. Did they identify the sexes yet? 2. Can they tell if they are identical or fraternal yet? They are only 11 weeks along so I think that it is too soon to tell the sex. As for the second question, the Dr. did not say. He did say that they each have there own sac and that that was the best type of twins to have. As for the links, they would be helpful, I will send you a PM later on.

Are ya gonna give em tf names? No, but I did try to get away with Luke and Liea if it is boy and girl twins, but my wife would not have it. We did have names picked out many years ago for our kids, but twins are making us rethink our names. Alter_Ego, Jo'Roq, what are your twins names?

Fraternal twins. That is good news. Separate sacs does not mean fraternal - even a normal identical twin pregnancy will have each in a separate sac. They can tell fraternal or identical by the number of placentas. Glad to hear that there are separate sacs. That eliminates a whole series of complications that put AE into the hospital on virtual bed rest (not ordered, but what else is there to do when being monitored?) for 7 weeks, and the twins were still born 8 weeks early. Our twins actually were mono-amniotic (the medical term for one sac). This is extremely rare - less than 1% of identical twin pregnancies - because it means that the egg split within the very short window between guarranteeing a normal identical twin pregnancy and guarranteeing a conjoined pregnancy. It is also very dangerous, because without the separate sacs the umbilical cords get wrapped around each other and eventually began to constrict the blood flow - our girls were so tightly wound up that they have the exact same birth time! There was no way to pull out one without the other. Their names are Terri Michelle and Carli Elisabeth.

Thanks again guys. We are really looking forward to it. We know that haveing twins will bring its own challenges, but in the end it will all be worth it.
