Yeah, the prices are getting pretty high. Not too long ago (1999?) I thought $1.35 was high, now I'm paying between $2.25 and $2. 35.

lol yeah. i wish jeremy could or ride a bike lol.. Gas for our truck when it was 1.35 cost us 40 dollars. just think with it being 2.25. LOL its not worth paying almost 80 dollars to fill up a truck to drive it only 5 days and it be empty. plus our little 4 cyclinder car that cost 16 bucks to fill up now cost 35.. i hope they figure this stuff out soon. they are just hurting everything.

Man this topic gets me all worked up. It makes me mad to no end! Here in the Milwaukee area we have been at $2.39 today was $2.29, who knows what it will be tomorrow! We just need to tell those environmental wackos to shut up and get a life. Then go get our own oil in our own country! Instead of OPEC dictating everything. Crap on the hybryd cars and crap like that. I want my gas cheap so I can go go go with a big motor!

Gas is way too high. When I first moves to St. Louis in early 1999, the average price for gas was $0.85 (no kidding) now it is going as high as $2.25.

Just a few things I want to make certain everyone knows to temper the rants:
1. Gas prices are almost half taxes. Some gas stations used to post stickers stating the total amount of tax, but those got removed rather quickly after governments started noticing them ....
2. Sometime late this year the first new refinery in over 20 years will begin operations on the Arizona/California border.
3. Anwar has finally been opened to drilling, but it will take close to ten years to develop the infrastructure (pipelines, drilling platforms, worker housing, etc) needed for a significant effect.
4. The currently running refineries are restricted by law and regulation from pursuing many new technologies. They are still running on the same technology used in the early 70s - all analog, nothing digital.
5. It is extremely hard for the oil companies to build a new refinery. No one (especially California) seems to want the refinery near them, and the extreme environmentalists don't want them anywhere, so it is difficult to find a location where they will be allowed to build.
I am not saying that the oil companies are blameless in the rise of gas prices, but a lot of the problem is coming from DC as well.

Well regardless of the reasons - the prices are still high.

Well regardless of the reasons - the prices are still high. Yup... The tech comment is what gets me. I figured with the cost of maintaining the equipment they would have switched to the more cost effective compact digital equipment.

Actually one thing that was left out was Gas Station owners as a former manager of an Ez mart we are told to match prices to those Stations around us.

Now that oil is down to $51.00 or under per barrel...we should see a reduction in the price of gas. They had not problem shooting it up over night to $2.15 and $2.25...but it seems it takes them forever to bring the price back down.....I thought they had some sort of watch group to keep these guys in check....
