Actor Heath Ledger died at the age of 28 today, guys. They suspect an overdose of some sort to be the cause. I posted this here because it looks like his last role will be as the Joker in the new Batman movie that is on the way. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22788914/?GT1=10755

It is just ashame how people can have so much going for them and are willing to ruin it by an overdose.

I was saddened to find this out. I feel sorry for his little girl who is only 2 but he was a very selfish person by not thinking of her and doing drugs.. I loved him in Brokeback Mountain and A Knights Tale and he will be missed in the industry but his actions were unacceptable.. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Wow, this surprised me; not that I really read up on him, but he seemed to be on top of the world..I guess that just makes the fall even further..
..and I don't see anything saying that he intentionally overdosed (the article states that there was no evidence it was a suicide, and he hadn't been sleeping much, thus the sleeping pills). We need more info before passing judgment (as if it's our place to do anyway, but we do..a discussion for another time, I suppose).
I kinda hate to say this, but I wonder how this will affect the batman film (publicity, the slant it'll give the viewers, etc.).

From what I understand the bottle of pills was open and around him. An overdose does not mean suicide. It means poor character. My judgement has been passed.

What I got from Fox news is that getting into character for Joker was getting to him. He couldn't sleep. 2 pills were not cutting it since he was still waking up. Could have lead to an accidental overdose. We won't know anything until the toxicology report is released.

Keep in mind that the man was sick with pneumonia. He may have just taken to many meds. If he took some meds that made you sleepy, then took sleeping pills and had a weakened immune system, it may have just been too much.

If it truly was an accidental overdose and he wasn't abusing drugs, then I have to admit I'll feel more saddened about his death. Guess we'll see how the autopsy results go.

So what could be an accident equals poor character to you? He had pneumonia, wasn't sleeping much; it's entirely possible that in his diminished mental state he took too many pills..hardly a reason to judge his character, more of a reason to be saddened by his death bc of bad circumstances (if that, in fact, is the case, as we simply don't know yet).

No, its more like poor character because they found a rolled up $20.00 bill in bed with him, and guys like Jack Nicolson have come out and said they told him he is headed for a tragic end. If the guy was so sick why wasn't he at home in bed instead of at the Olsen twin condo. Its time for people to wake up and stop putting up with young Hollywoods crap. Look, I am not saying I don't have any sympathy at all for the guy. I just have a heck of a lot more sympathy for the nursing student here in Omaha that was shot from 200 yards away while waiting in a drive through line by some punk who wanted to find out what it was like to kill someone.

Being at an olsen twin's condo was a rumor; he was in his own hotel room.
I don't think we know enough about what happened to say this is another stereotypical "young hollywood" story; until then, I'm going to reserve comment about him. He did have drugs, but did he get them legally? had he been drinking?, etc. These questions still need to be answered. Either way, I feel sorry for his daughter, and the rest of his family and his friends.
