From our good friends at TNI:
DC Comics Executive Editor Dan Didio led the DC Universe: Super Heroes Go DVD panel at WonderCon in San Francisco on Saturday. Joining him were animation legend Bruce Timm (Batman Beyond, Superman: The Animated Series) and Senior VP of Creative Affairs Gregory Noveck.
Our panelists kicked off by showing us a rough sketch trailer of the first of three straight to DVD animated movies, Superman Doomsday. Superman Doomsday is a stand alone movie about the Death of Superman story featuring Adam Baldwin as Superman, Anne Heche as Lois Lane and James Marsters as Lex Luthor.
Superman Doomsday is due Sept. 18th 2007, DC: The New Frontier and The New Teen Titans The Judas Contract, the latter two due out later 2007 / 2008. Although only three titles announced, there was mention that there are six different projects currently in various stages of development.
When the panel opened for Q & A, fans asked many questions, when asked what movies and stories were coming up, the panelists could only give "we'll see" answers. Some highlight answers among the questions were: These animated movies will be from 70-75 minutes, tons of extras: specific documentaries for every piece and behind the scenes featurettes. Warner Bros. will be treating these DC animated movies more like theatrical releases and are giving DC Universe much more freedom to make these movies more adult and less cartoon than we've ever seen before. DC Comics is much more involved than in the animated series.
