Hi everyone! Yup, CkRtech invited me and this looks like a neat place to hang around. I don't actually collect (college schmollege, zaps all your money and you end up working at McDonalds anyway), but I'm a huge Star Wars/Star Trek/Stargate SG-1/sci fi in general fan. My name is Stephanie, and I'm 17. I live in North Carolina, and I love horses, the aforementioned scifi, books, writing, music, art, archery and other weaponry, and spending way too much time online. Incidentally, I love the smileys you guys have on here...

Devastator_2000 - Yup, BIG Stargate fan. I'm counting the days until Season 8 (July 9th!) and Atlantis (July 16th!). Jo'Roq - Thanks! Your name sounds Klingonish...am I right? I'll have to go check out Ten Forward, sounds like there are lots of Trek fans on here! Destro - Well, I'm currently a dual-enrolled student, which means I'm doing highschool and college at the same time. The powers that be won't let me declare a major yet because I'm still technically too young, but right now the plan is to major in English with possibly a minor in Art. I'm just starting my senior year of high school this fall though, so I've got lots of time yet. Bear - Never underestimate the appeal of sharp and/or deadly objects. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) The world needs more Amazons, I get the weirdest looks from other girls when I start trying to explain the difference between a compound and a recurve bow.

It's the name of a Klingon character I created for a ST writing club I used to be part of, and have since used it for my online handle. And from your weapons comments, I think you nad my wife (Alter_Ego) are going to get along just fine ..... guys, Kyla may be the only safe person here ....

Never underestimate the appeal of sharp and/or deadly objects. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) The world needs more Amazons, I get the weirdest looks from other girls when I start trying to explain the difference between a compound and a recurve bow. Ah, yes. A woman after my own heart. Let's bring out the BIG weapons! ![](http://img8.photobucket.com/albums/v28/gunman_sr5/4_2_201.gif) Funny thing about archery. I'm actually fairly good for someone who doesn't practice, but I'm right-handed and shoot better left-handed. I am very familliar with the difference between recurve and compound. I used to be a member of a midevil re-enactment group, and did some minor competing. Recurves were the only ones allowed, because of time-period accuracy. I like the look of the recurve, but compounds are very fun! Well, after all that, welcome to the insane assylum. ![](http://img8.photobucket.com/albums/v28/gunman_sr5/bouncers.gif) I hope your straight-jacket fits comfortably, because once you sign in here you'll be wearing it for an extended length of time! ![](http://img8.photobucket.com/albums/v28/gunman_sr5/lol.gif)

I LOVE recurves! Compounds are just okay...too many gadgets, and I'm not crazy about the pulleys. Longbows are nice, just very...long. My recurve is perfect, it's 4 feet long, 40 lb pull, which is pretty pathetic, but just fine for me. When I read about the archers of the Middle Ages with bows pulling 100 lbs or more, I feel pretty puny, but I know there's no way I could even shoot a 60 lber with any kind of accuracy.
Very cool! History is one of my favorite subjects as well. I'm hoping to go into the literature/editing end of things with the English degree. Good luck on becoming an English teacher!
