That's about a 9-10 hour car trip for us, so Rose and I are a go. Plus Rose has family in NE Ohio to split the trip up a bit if we want to take our time getting there.
We have a friend that says we can room with him, so I think we're prettymuch set. Now to decide which costume to bring this year: Soundwave or Wheeljack. I'm leaning towards Soundwave.

I'll be Wheeljack! Well you're pretty wiry, Chris, so I bet with some slight modifications you could probably fit inside the WJ costume! =)

This sucks I have been a transfan ever since I watched More Then Meets The Eye back in 1984. I was 18 at the time I have been collecting Transformers while you guys had your parents do it because you were small kids at the time I have been jipped every year about going to Botcon They ALLWAYS seem to have it too far from where I live.at this rate I will never get to go to one in my lifetime There is only one upside for me I learned the day before this was announced that there is a Ghost Hunters convention called TAPScon in Clearwater about 45 minutes away from me..Who knows maybe I will get a chance to meet Jason and Grant. The only other upside is that I'm 2 hours away from Disney World and hit Star Wars Weekends. I have been devoted to the Transformers for over 23 years and I still get the shaft when it comes to Botcon

Botcon hasn't been around since 1984. I don't really think the age that we were when Transformers first came about has anything to do with where the convention is. It isn't like you've been a Transformers fan any longer than the rest of us.

Dude the first Botcon was in 94 I'm tired of this I have been devoted to this franchise for the longest of any genre and I allways seemed to get screwed somehow If it isn't the location its the price of the exclusives..sorry i'm not most people that have good paying jobs and who can travel My rant is like the one Clark Griswald gave when he couldn't get into Wally World I'm sorry i'm not one to celebrate about this news but it seems every Botcon gets farther and farther away I'm not mad at anybody here just the people who run the d**n thing

Dude the first Botcon was in 94 But that wasn't 1984. I think it has changed hands a few times, so any chance of a decent geographical rotation is probably fairly slim. But then I don't really have a map in front of me to see where all of the Botcons have been. I guess it's been pretty sporadic?

Any rumors on the exclusives this year? The little bit of speculation I've seen is a switching around of the alliances to be Good Decepticons and Evil Autobots.

Any rumors on the exclusives this year? Yes. I heard they are selling $100 bills for $299 each.

I am not excited at all about Botcon. It is not overly far from St. Louis, but I am not going to drive all the way there just to pay too much for exclusives.

Frankly I think Botcon is just crap anyway..it was in Dallas a couple of years ago and I didn't even bother to go. I agree the exclusives are insane, but when you have the company running, that is currently running it, with Hasbro's blessing it just plain sucks. I hate that I will never have all of the Classics seekers, but whatever with these guys...I will not be part of their club, to get some repainted figure I already have twice over.

I hate that I will never have all of the Classics seekers, but whatever with these guys...I will not be part of their club, to get some repainted figure I already have twice over. I think the '07 show was one of the best BotCons I've ever attended (mostly due to the Hasbro tour and movie premiere), but overall I can't help but agree that Fun Publications isn't the best place to be putting the convention on or run a TF club. To them it's more of a business, and less a labor of love like how most of the previous organizers seemed to treat it. The whole thing now seems to have a generic "pre-packaged" feel to it, and it's more about promoting upcoming Hasbro products, and getting farther and farther away from G1 TFs every year. I'm actually surprised they had a toy set this year that was so G1 intensive. Oh, and the club is absolute crap, imo. A worthless classifieds paper with a mini TFs magazine inside, which usually includes info that is serious old news. It also features the work of some of the most obnoxious and snobby TF fans in it such as M Sipher and Dave Willis. The only reason I even have a membership is because it's basically free when you sign up for BotCon. Also, not the fault of Fun Publications, but it seems like BotCon is more about cliques getting together more than anything else. It used to be that fans would go to the con to meet and mingle with new fans on equal terms. Now it's mostly cliques like the TFW2005 gang, the Allspark gang, the Seibertron gang, the WiiGii hive mind, etc.. These groups mostly just associate with those in their own gang, and seem to ignore (or even ridicule) those not in their elitest little toy robot club. It's getting pretty pathetic really. Sometimes I wonder why we even go anymore. I guess old habits die hard.
