I just ran into a guy at Walmart that wanted to argue with me that the first MP Jet to come to the US will be Skywarp. His reasoning is Hasbro stated it. Whats up with this? Hasbro has posting for Screamer in November, and sightings are all over TFW2005. Not to mention a couple of my friends in Houston have found them. Even with this reasoning the guy still swore that Skywarp would be the first and that we are not getting Starscream. I had to walk away and let him talk to himself.

What an idiot! Well you know some people just believe what they think is correct. I doubt you could have convinced him that SS was the first one even if you had had him right in your hands in front of him....
I imagine that was very frustrating!
he must be a rookie collector...if he were seasoned he would know you only...believe nothing that you hear and only part of what you see...;-)

I'd like to hear the story too, Chris! Tell Grimlock about Petro-rabbits!! And I feel your pain, Gunman. I also run into quasi-collectors on occasion that act like know-it-alls, but then you find out they literally have NO IDEA what they're talking about. I usually try to correct them at first, but once I realize it's futile, I just humor them and drift away. I try to never get into heated arguments over action figures. That's what the internet is for!

Okay so when I was in college, I had a local comic store / sports card shop that I visited all the time. There's a guy there named Jamie that is pretty much "the toy guy." If anyone comes in looking for toys, they talk to him. Long story short for my intro, I became friends with Jamie in the sense that we could hang around and talk collecting. So long as the store wasn't super busy, this wasn't a problem.
Well he is a big joe collector, and owns (or owned) just about every G.I. Joe item produced in the 80s. That's a lot of joes. I was always there for Transformers, and he knew his Transformers well too. Not as much as joes, but he still knew them well.
So I go in there this one time and he says, "man...I gotta tell you something." This collector had come into the store earlier and asked about the Hot Rod in their display case. This was just about the time "Rodimus Major" had been released as a TRU exclusive reissue.
Dude's first mistake - He calls out Jamie and says, "hey! I can run down to Toys R Us and pick this up for less than half this price? What gives?" Jamie says to him, "Okay...this is an original. This is not the reissue you see at the stores" (which started an entire "are you sure it isn't a reissue?" argument)
Dude's second mistake - He calls the thing Rodimus Major. Jamie says, "I know the reissue is called Rodimus Major, but this is Hot Rod from the cartoon."
After clearing up the explanation by offering the Hot Rod <-> Rodimus Prime connection from the 80s, the dude doesn't accept it. He is pretty much irate and says, "no! No! See....*I* watched the series when it aired, and I am telling you - the guy was called Rodimus Major!!!"
At this point in the story, I am half laughing and half thinking "man I am so lucky I wasn't here. You would have kicked me out of the store for arguing (...making fun of) this guy."
Jamie laughed and said, "yeah well...if he had been talking Joes, I wouldn't have a job anymore."
I think I started asking him some fake questions like "Oh can I see that Lady Scarlett over there?" or "Hey! I used to have that King Cobra figure when I was a kid!"
But then he continued with the story and said that it went on for a good like 10 minutes and the guy never accepted it. The guy kept saying he was going to go buy "Rodimus Major" at TRU and bring it back to show Jamie he was wrong. At this point Jamie was like "....okay."
What else was he going to say? What do you say to that? It was extra frustrating because the product at TRU actually had the name "Rodimus Major" on it. So if the guy had come running back in to their store with "Rodimus Major" (and what overkill is that just to prove someone wrong?), Jamie would have just had to shake his head and say, "yeah. congratulations."

Wow... Some people just disapoint me. When presented with the facts they replace it with the reality of their own little world.

Gah! What an idiot! I'm usually lenient towards people that don't know there stuff (as I'm no expert myself), but some people are so bull-headed that you can't help but make fun of them. Something tells me that even if the store employee produced a 1986 catalog showing Hotrod, the guy would STILL not believe that was the character's name! Sounds like he was in complete denial. I'm surprised he didn't claim to have seen the "Ultra Magnus drawn & quartered" sequence from The Movie while he was at it, or the rare scene where Prime crumbles to dust after dying.
