Hoping to get back to some classic Transformers talk how did you guys play with your Transformers as kids?
I had kind of a made up story going that was a cartoon spin-off that had the Transformers I owned in charge of a different quadrent of space. They were almost like police for that area. I would pretend Prime, who I never owned, would send messages to Topspin(my leader) and he would instruct my Autobots on what to do.
Astrotrain was my Decepticon leader with Thrust as his right hand man.

I was 18 when I first got mine in 1984
So I never played with them only displayed them
I allways thought that if I did play it would of been a continuation of the toon not the comic since I liked the shows continuity better

My brother and I would get everything out (TF, He-Man, Star Wars, GI Joe ....) and lay it all out on the floor in our room, then take turns picking who was on our "team". Sometimes the teams fought, sometimes we split the teams into heroes and villains for battling, but there was never just a single universe involved.

I am with John, most of the time thnigs were split into groups. I had a lot of the Star Wars ships and play sets, so I even ventured outside sometimes...even in my later teens.
There were the occasional reenactments of favorite scenes for Star Wars, GI Joe and Transformers, but for the most part, we would split up the good guys from all lines, He-Man, GI Joe, TMNT, Dino Riders, Transformers, and Gobots and then it would be good vs. Evil. We would use all sorts of things to build bases. The GI Joe base constantly got destroyed by the Dreadnoks clan. We usually gave the bad guys the Ewok village.

Intermingling of franchises was strickly forbidden...........FORBIDDEN! The only exception would be a line that did not have a comic or TV show and it had to really work with the Major toy of choice.

I allways thought if I ever got the Gobots(which I never did) I would make them a slave race for the Decepticons to control

I forgot about Dino Riders! We also had a few Go-Bots and MASK, and occasionally got some of my sister's stuff (primarily the My Little Pony "Big Brother" Ponies and the Barbie corvette for our use) when she wanted to join us.

WE also used the Visionaries. My brothers and I would set it up so each toyline would form alliances with another, so you had all the good guys and then splinter groups of the bad guys! Then the villains would band together for an all out final assault...which of course they wouldl lose. THe Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles always came to the rescue!

I mix them up once in a while, but for the most part i stuck with each line as thier own story. Sometimes I would continue off the cartoon, play out the transformers movie, or just make them up as if the were in thier own universe.
