I don't really care what it looks like, I would like to just see a series with decent writing for a change.

*facepalms* That Optimus would be just fine for a guest appearance on Powerpuff Girls, but not for a new TFs series!! Even with decent writing, I think this would be ridiculous. I guess the Clone Wars cartoon had skewed/exaggerated character designs too, but this goes way beyond that. I hope this is really REALLY preliminary.

I hope that picture is just a promotional shot and not the way the actual toon will look.

The animation would most likely be weird too. The style (Samurai Jack, Clone Wars) is typically very choppy. Transformation should be very smooth.
They don't have to stick to the same animation style with this art style....but you have to be scratching your head a bit with this one.

Is that Grim in an Optimus costume? I will at least watch it before judging it.

I'm not liking the pic, but seeing it in action, combined w/ a (hopefully good) story and characterization will hopefully make me feel a lot better about this. Oh, and great toys would be nice too.

OH man....I just saw that Jack is online. ......this should be good.... You know seeing this mess makes Michael Bay's crowd look like geniuses. They made Optimus look like one of those lame bad guys from the Power Puff Girls cartoon crossed over with Power Rangerish, sort of Voltronish, with a hint of feces. The only words I can use to describe this are the only words I can't use on our board.

If this series is going for a comedy approach, then I guess the designs could work. But if it's supposed to be even remotely serious... then this is a trainwreck waiting to happen, imo. And I've been hearing that the characters might not even have true animated transforming sequences, but will just go into a superspeed whirl and then they'll be in alternate mode. I truly hope this is misinformation. I guess we'll get more info at BotCon next weekend.

I hear that the cartoon figures won't be out til next summer The pic here states the toys and toon will be in spring 08..maybe, just maybe, we'll get some classics between the movie and this, but I'm not holding my breath. ..and the idea that each episode is a stand-alone doesn't make me happy either. Also, supposedly this show is geared toward a younger audience..if it's like rid, or anything like some of the other toons this group has made (ninja turtles, teen titans), then it may still be good.

I should of posted this here butyou'll get the idea
A first look of of "Transformers Animated" Optimus Prime have surfaced up on the internet. According to the gallery owner's naming conventions, these scanned articles are from the "Licensing International Expo 2007" that started today and runs until the 21st of this month. The two scans, other than showing off the look of the new 2-D Optimus Prime, also reveal some new, albiet contradicting information on the new Hasbro and Cartoon Network-partnered show.
According to article scan, the show will start in January 2008 airing as a Saturday morning series on Cartoon Network and will expand to "five times a week later in the year." However, the scanned flyer seems to contradict the article. The flyer reads that the series and toyline will begin in "Spring 2008" with the full licensed roll out that summer. Which one is actually accurate is unknown at this time.
The show will contain 26, 30 minute episodes as well as a 90 minute special.
The article quotes Transformers Director of Marketing Michael Verracchia as saying that the show will be supported on TV and "through Web-based initiatives, product partnerships, and promotional partnerships."
No new characters have been revealed in the article or the flyer and only lists "Optimus Prime, Megatron, and a host of new characters."
Take a read of the original scans and a look at Optimus Prime's new design in the image gallery.
"Transformers Animated" will be developed by Executive Producer Sam Register (Teen Titans); Line Producer Vincent Aniceto (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends); Head Writer Marty Isenberg (X-Men, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles); and Lead Character Designer Derrick Wyatt (Teen Titans).
Previously announced voice actors include Tom Kenny (Starscream), and Tara Strong (Suri).
Previous rumors include Frank Welker-confirmed Corey Burton (Megatron) and David Kaye self-proclaiming he will portray Optimus Prime.
