While my brother, sister, and two friends were in Las Vegas for spring break, they were invited in (from off the street) to what turned out to be a 30-minute sneak preview of the movie!
Not only did they get to see four entire (though unfinished) scenes, including the assault on the base by the Decepticon helicopter (the name escapes me at the moment), but they were shown to seats in the front row. My brother sat three seats away from Michael Bay, with only one person in between!
It appears to have been a screening test to get crowd reactions (no one was individually interviewed).
He said the scenes were great and included at least a variant of the G1 transforming sound effect, and that the Transformers themselves (where the CG was finshed) looked really good. He thought the alien appearance fit the presentation in the scenes, and worked well - though admittedly he is only a nostalgic G1 fan and not any form of collector or active TF fan currently.
This is not the first time my brother has had something cool just fall in his lap. Man, he has the lion's share of the luck!

It will be nice for the movie to finally come out. There is this little spark of life in me (no pun intended) that still hopes for a good movie. All of the news that we have heard (which I mostly consider bad) has had my hopes WAY down on this film.
Honestly though, I would rather go in expecting something horrible then go in and expect something perfect. I can only imagine what it is going to have to live up to for those that have been so excited about it for so long.
Good deal that your family got in on it.....except...the fact that you weren't there. haha!

I will giv it a fair shake. I hope that all the negative I have heard is wrong, but i will see it anyway.

I think the big falasy about the movie is that Transformers fans are not going to see it because of the way it is being talked about in the fan community. I can't speak for everyone, but I plan on seeing it as I am sure most of the critics on the boards will. That being said I do not think it will be a blockbuster by any stretch of the imagination. You have Pirates Spiderman, and one other major release which escapes me right now before Transformers. The weekend after Transformers you have Harry Potter. I predict 140 million tops.

Well, Dreamworks is like:
"Paramount has Star Trek" "Fox has Star Wars" "Universal has Back to the Future" "We have Transformers"
They expect that much of it.

The only Blockbuster franchise on that list is Star Wars. The others are good and have made their share of smeckle, but blockbusters they are not.

Well, thanks to the miracle of the internet I looked it up. There has only been 1 Star Trek that has made over 100 million at the box office. The Voyage Home took in 109 million. All the rest made between 50 to 90 million with most in the 70 millions. Again, fair share of smeckle yet no blockbusters.

I never said anything about movies - heck - throw out the movies if you want. Star Trek is mostly a TV series first & foremost. Either way, Paramount has made a killing off the shows, merchandising, licensing, etc of the franchise.

I'll give you that. I am a big trekki from way back.. I still have a huge Playmates figure collection. When they made a statement about wanting a franchise I assumed it to be movie. At least I assume it was a reference to a statement they made.
