This is gret news for those people that are missing out in areas that Kmart abandoned.

That is definitely me! I have been trying to see if KMart.com had their exclusives on-line, but last week when I looked, I found that the site was under construction and that the new site launches on 11/18....tomorrow.
Seems they were ready to launch the new site with the new merger.....pretty good deal....
I figure they will rebrand at some point...but what name could cover both? Sears is better known and has a longer history than K-Mart. I am assuming this is why they are going to be under the Sears Holding company. I think they should combine the names and rebrand them all as Smart stores....that is a good way to combine the Sears and K-Mart names.....
I was surprised to find out that K-Mart came in with the upper hand on this....their stock holders came out much better and they have 7 members on the board vs 3 of Sears. A Kmart guy is the Chariman of the Board now. I just hope their cross marketing will extend to the store exclusives....

I think this is pretty good news.
I wonder if KB and TRU would consider the same. People have to stand up to Walmart.

This could be the beginning of the rebellion! Nice to see them make a move in this direction!

I don't think they will ever rebrand. Sears has too much history (think back to Sears, Roebuck, and Co.), and K-Mart is a very niche brand. My take is that eventually they will revert back to Sears taking the "upper"-class merchandise with K-Mart as the discount/clearance/"can't sell it anywhere else" selection. There will still be some cross-merchandising, primarily in toys and seasonal merchandise, but the two styles of stores will never be merged.

I don't know if that is necessarily true, because they are planning on cross merchandising Lands End and Martha Stewart, along with a few other lines which are core items in the store. Plus tomorrow we will see what the new KMart website looks like...I am not expectig to see cross merchandising, yet but it would be interesting if it would already has stuff up.
I agree though that Sears goes way back, which is why I think they called the new parent company Sears Holding. Name recognition means a lot....or hurts a lot...

I found out a little more...Spencer was in Chicago last week and said it was all over the papers. People are very happy about this...I guess it is good for business since it will remain based in Chicago.
Over the next 4 years all K-Mart stores are going to be rebranded to Sears. I think that is a good move. I guess all the Kmart exclusives will become Sears Exclusives like they had back in the day. At least they will be readily available!
