Hi, I'm new here... I posted a topic on another forum asking if I could post a link to my online vintage toy store. People were very friendly but ultimately I didn't post the link there. That site was also where I met your Supreme Commader who told me it would be ok to post the link here. I'm interested in any feedback you may have both negative and possitive. I am a huge Transformers fan (I should take picture) and have spent months designing and programming it to meet what the needs of these toys and other vintage toys as well. Anyways, here's the link www.toycatacomb.com.

The biggest thing I can suggest to you is bend over backwards on making your grading accurate. The biggest problem I have always had with buying vintage stuff online is C-9 meaning C-7. If you list as C-9 make sure it is C-9. I would also note that on your site that your grading is accurate.

Thank you very my much Mr Bear. I know what you mean, my gf bought me a Double Dealer off eBay which was listed as C9 but turned out to be C8, it's still very nice and has been added to my collection but I felt disappointed especially since she doesn't know much about these toys and was taken advantage of. I've tried to be as accurate as possible so if I'm not sure wether it's a C8 or C8.5 then it's a C8.

Welcome optoprime! Glad to see you got the link up over here. Good luck like I said at TNI. Store looks great so far. May get some hits for MOTU stuff from a couple people over here as well.

The thing that I think you need on your site is a Canada to US currancy cnverter or a link to one (If you have one and I missed it, I am sorry, I just did not see it).

Thanks, no I don't have one... it did cross my mind a couple weeks ago but I couldn't think of an efficient way of automating it (so I don't have to manually update the conversion rate). Come to think of it... what I could do is implement it for people who are logged in (that way I know which country they're in) and only post the cost in their currency, however, people who are just passing by would see CAD... I'll think about it some more. Again, thanks for the tip!

No I do not accept credit/debit cards directly but it has been coded in case the store becomes very popular... I'd have to open an account with Moneris (payment gateway here in Canada) but their refund policy is to deduct 20% for any cancelation or refund (if I need to refund someone, I'm out 20%) unlike PayPal which charges 1-2% so for now I'm going to save the 20% untill I am able to take the hit. Plus, my main advertising will be on eBay and I think customers would feel more comfortable using PayPal as opposed to storing their credit card info on my site.

A lot of people have mixed feelings about PayPal. I think PayPal is a great service but I also think thier "Buyer Protection" needs a lot of work, in the way it's handled and the actions they take. There have been times where PayPal has bailed me out from bad sellers and times where they didn't pay close enough attention and rules wrecklessly. But the biggest problem I can see is there are no competitors. Without competitors they WILL improve but NOT by much or as fast.

Oh and if any of you sell stuff on eBay... never, never ship the item without insurrance even if the buyer doesn't want it!!!!! This way you get a reciept with the buyers name and address and possible a tracking number. If this means you cannot ship worldwide because of the cost of insurance then so be it unless you are willing to take the hit if something goes wrong. The reason I'm saying this is because PayPal does NOT view "buyer didn't want insurance, it's not my fault" as a valid excuse.
