OK since there is a lot of ranting about the direction of this film. We should just have one thread of the ranting and frustrations of how it's going. Instead of tons of thread of hating this and that. This thread will probably turn int CK's and my soap box. ;D But everyone's welcome, even Destro. ;D

I will first start off the lovely, tender, sweet thread. ;D With the biggest atrosity of the news yet. That is Megatron's design. He looks like some sort of General Grevious rip off in a chrome briar patch. You can't make out anything with it being so busy with stuff going on all over. There is no logical way it seems like he could turn into that Cybertron jet thing. This is one instance that they got the color right for him but everything else is crap.

Yea, I must admit that Megs' bot mode is..messy. I am hoping, however, that cgi will help it quite a bit. Other than that, he looks kinda like a person w/o their skin; icky.
I think the jet mode looks decent, though, and the head sculpt looks like pure evil, which of course makes a lot of sense.

Here is my rant.....I love the movie concepts. they look great to me. Realistic(look in the bumblebee thread for more) and i like that they dont look very G1, we need to let G1 go(have fun with that one guys). So i say nay to all you nay sayers, im excited about the movie and if you dont like the way it looks dont go, the fandom isnt what is gonna make this movie its money, its the everyday folk.

OK this is something that offends me about all this. That the writers, designers, cronies keep telling us about these designs. Is that what we want does not work and that what they know does. How can they have any credibility saying that. Because the fandom knows it works because it's worked for 20+ years. The $$$ it has made proves it. Now they think they can just come up an take over the $$$ machine that TFs are and take it to the bank. I do concied the whole mash shitfing argument not being done. That makes sence for a live action movie. But not making Prime, Prime, and making Megatron, Megatron, and Bumblebee, Bumblebee does not. What I mean is that Prime having his tried and true transform, same with BB. But Meagtron should be a tank and still could have his G1 look with the right transform. Thus move venom has been spewed. With more to come.

See i dont get it, prime is prime, bumblebee is bumblebee, and megs is megs, thier just not the g1 versions. Just take them as cool new versions and not as mess ups of G1 versions that wouldnt accually work in live action

There have already been "cool" new versions, after new versions, after new versions, after new versions, after new versions of Optimus and Megatron. They have beaten that to death. This has just watered down the franchise. With a new Optimus and Megatron every year with their respective soldiers. This movie is just like the next step past this new Cybetron series. G1 only came once and was done right. Everything since has been a hollow atempt to capture that magic that only hapened once.

Those pictures we have seen of the movie stuff displays stuff that totally sucks. The G1 versions would work better than anything else in live action & they are fools to not even give it a try. So you use newer vehicles - fine...but the bot modes of the newer vehicles should look like the actual vehicle. You should see doors and hoods and various other recognizable parts.

I think that w/ a new, big budget movie the transformers franchise must go in a new direction; it must look past other lines (g1 especially), and be it's own entity. If some people don't like it, that's their opinion and they're entitled to it; whenever a new anything comes along there are always those who like or dislike it. The point being, if it's new, there'll be some time needed to get used to it; for me, the more I see of the bots the more I like them. This movie isn't like anything we've seen before, nor should it be. It's time to move forward and break new ground; I for one am hoping for the best.

I don't want to see the movie fail, but it really looks like the script is going to be what bails this thing out. Of course, the animation of the models is also a big deal. I wonder what the trailer is going to look like when it is released. Getting a taste of things in action might help out a bit. There is still quite a bit of speculation involved.

I had to share the funniest comment I read today. It belongs here in the Official Rant Thread. I can't remember the site it came from though. But it was "The Megatron concept still looks like chrome vomit." I thought it was funny. ;D I just had to share that with yall. ;D

This thread has been dead for awhile, and w/ the movie almost here, I wonder if anyone's opinions have changed much; does it look better? worse? the same?
Personally I'm more excited for the toys right now, but I'm still hyped for the movie; the clips I've seen have been quite positive overall, but since I haven't read many script spoilers I'm still leery about the story/characterization (it being a Bay film adds to that). Thoughts?

I still pretty much feel the same - but in no way think that I don't plan on going to see the film. I still am going to go.
I still don't like the designs, various decisions that were made, etc....
but...
fortunately it looks like the TF community beat each other up so much that everyone let down (except the super hardcore people that wanted to debate to the bitter end, of course).
I would like to think that we are all at the point where we are just waiting to see the movie. I am sure the discussion will flare up a lot after the movie is released. The proof is in the pudding. Discussion will be easier when it is all fact/opinion-based rather than both with a large mix of speculation by both sides.
I wanted to do a "pre TF movie" ESR show as well as a post-movie, but I don't know that I won't turn around and find the movie already released before I get around to doing a pre-show.
That and then there is actually finding the TIME to do the show.

I pretty much feel the same way as CK does. I have not changed my mind much at all. The trailers, action, and CG quality have been great. I still don't like most of the robot designs. I also don't like many of the decisions they have made. I do hope they prove me wrong. I willl be the first to admit if I am. It's not like I'm going to boycot it. I'll go see it a couple of times, get the DVD, and maybe pick up a toy or two. I just keep thinking what could have been. We shall see once it hits and we have seen it. Then we can make a better judgement then.

I am about as excited as I can get. It doesn't mater who I talk to fan or not. Everybody is going to see the movie! I have rarely been negative when it came to the movie. So my thought haven't changed other then its getting better with every clip I see.
