It is probably not what you are thinking - but it is a cartoon done in 1986 called Ghostbusters. It was not based on the 1984 movie, but on the 1970s TV series.
Ghostbusters was done by Filmation (He-Man, She-Ra, etc). It had wacky episodes & was hilarious. Just as you expect from Filmation - the stock footage rolled over and over. Prime Evil was a "rip-off" of Skeletor (to some people....personally, I view him as a parallel) & his minions were bumbling idiots. But hey - it was the mid-eighties & cartoons were kicking.
To jog your mind and possibly surprise some of you (the voice actors might do just that), here are some main characters of the show:
Jake Kong - Voiced by Pat Fraley (G.I. Joe: Ace, Airtight, Barbecue, Wild Weasel; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987): Krang/Baxter Stockman/Zak the Nutrino/Lt. Granitor)

Eddie Spencer - Voiced by Peter Cullen (Transformers: Optimus Prime, Ironhide, etc....; you know this guy)

Ahhh...so there you have it. Many other characters left out - these were notables to touch on. I have NO idea how you could watch the show today unless you got some bootleg DVDs off of ebay.
I saved the best for last - here is the opening to the show (extremely low quality video). WARNING!!! The theme song to this show is extremely catchy! (Not to mention the opening is crazy in itself) Sorry you can't see much - those of you who remember the show might recognize what is going on.
