I think back to a year ago. All I wanted was vehicle type bots like G1, and couldn't stand the idea of the Beast Wars cartoon. Now since then I have seen all of Beast Wars and Beast Machines. As well as own several of the molds for both lines. They are great and the cartoon rocked. Why do most people overlook the Beast era and not even try to look back when it could be considered the best series of Tranformers of all time?

A lot of it is that G1 is the ORIGINAL. It is what the majority of the fan base (at least at the time) remembered and loved. The changes that came with the G2 figure line disappointed many fans and made them leery of any more changes, especially those with access to the ongoing Japanese series and all the changes that happened there.
The Beast era did change a lot of things in the TF universe, which many of the fans who did give it a try did not like, so they left with bad impressions. Ironically, BW was not originally intended to even be connected to G1. It was the fans discussing things like the mention of the "Great War" in the pilot episode on the newsgroup alt.toys.transformers (which the writers lurked on to get fan reactions) that actually brought G1 into the storyline - the writers had never even SEEN G1, so they got some old tapes to research and decided to run with it.

Well everyone knows I'm a G1 stick in the mud. For me I've got 20 years of my life that I've been a TF fan. I've been there from the beginning. As a kid I connected with the G1 characters and toys. Which has stuck with me know for a lifetime. Unlike the new stuff. For me that's the G2 erra on. Mainly Beast Wars on. I don't have cherished memories of those toys and characters. They have no appeal at all to me. I know nothing about them. Maybe if I would have been a kid at the time Beast Wars was around I might see it different. When G1 came out it was a completely new thing. Which sparked(pardon the TF pun) a love and imagination that still sticks with me today. But the newer stuff is just ridding the wave of the original popularity. To me the only positive to the new stuff is that it keeps the TF franchise alive and going. Which can only help keep the G1 stuff we get stay around. The only exception to all this for me is the Alternators. Which is modern TFs with the G1 characters I love. They are mainly adult TFs for us who were kids in the 80. Thus my commentary.
