I was just wondering how you guys regulate your spending. Do you give yourself a certain dollar amount a month, a percentage of your paycheck, etc.? I've been trying to spend a certain amount a month, but the amount I chose really has little rhyme or reason; it's kind of a low, random number. I want to up my spending bc of all the new stuff coming out. I guess I'm trying to justify spending more. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I will say this about my actual spending; last year I spent a little under 5% of my earnings on toys, and so far this year it's about the same, maybe a little more. What do you think is a good % to spend on toys, and how do you guys regulate your toy spending?

Mrs. Bear and I have gotten our finances under control about a year ago. We got out of all debt other then our home and do not use creit cards anymore. Before that I would go crazy at times. Since then we get an allowence every 2 weeks of $80.00. The allowance needs to cover lunches at work, our hobbies, and whims.
I also normally get toys as gifts from Mrs. Bear. When you count Christmas, birthdays, Fathers Day, anniversaries and all the other little things here and there I get plenty.
The one problem though is getting the erge to start a new collection. When you budget you really have to focus on what you REALLY want. That is why my GI Joe collection has never started.

We don't specifically budget for it. Instead, we keep in mind what bills are coming and what other stuff has to be bought, and then decide if we have anything left over enough to allow for extra spending that week.
It also helps that I'm not picking up everything I'd like to - too many of those lines (like the new SW stuff) will just end up being too large to keep up with. I made a conscious decision to just stick with collecting Alternators (since its new, and the new figures are slow to come out), though I don't exclude any individual items that catch my attention.

![](http://img44.photobucket.com/albums/v136/TTC_Forum/op.gif) First of all congratulations Cyberbear from yall getting out of debt. I know that had to be quite the struggle and sacrifice to achieve. I too hope to some day we can be to. Good job bro. ![](http://img44.photobucket.com/albums/v136/TTC_Forum/usa.gif) As far as the budget goes for me. I just keep it under control. I buy far don't get all that I want. I just kind of spread it out. Like 95% of the time if there ain't the money to get it I don't use the charge card. But there is the other 5% that happens to. But basicly if the $ aint in the bank or my wallet I wait until next payday. Or when the wife looks stern at me. So the budget fluxuaites(sp?)

No budget just spur of the moment ( I found it ) spending.

I usually maintain a budget of $50.00 a week for my TF's and other hobbies. But lately other things have been taking my money.
