Is anyone interested in restarting the picture contests? I'm thinking of the following general guidelines:
1. 3 categories: Dramatic, Humor, and General Posed (basically everything else). This opens it up to those who can't come up with an idea in any specific theme.
2. Any figures (including statues and maquettes) from any line are eligible, with no figure count limits. You can beg, borrow, and rent (just don't steal) any figures you need to complete a scene - we're not going to check your collection inventory .....
3. Photoshop and other picture editors are allowed, provided you can recognize the unmodified portions as the figures they are, to enhance the image and add that extra appeal or punchline.
4. The picture must follow the post rules on the board - no obscenity or vulgarity.
5. No prizes, unless someone is willing to donate a prize without guarranteed recompense. I don't think it ended up being too appealing to have to donate to enter our previous contests, not to mention apparently somewhat frustrating for our previous prize creator. If a prize is offered, there will be nothing against voluntary donations, but no one should have to pay to enter what is meant to be friendly competition.
I'm willing to help organize contests, especially if we end up with a semi-regular schedule of contests, but we need to have the interest going to make it worth the effort.
We'd also need those willing to judge (particularly if you don't plan on actually entering), since judges would not be allowed to enter the contest themselves. You can volunteer to only judge one aspect (like Dramatic) if you have an idea you want to enter in another aspect. Judges can volunteer or opt out as they desire, so you won't be permanently locked in to being a judge for every contest.
This is just to gauge interest, so please post your thoughts and ideas. If we have enough interest, I will coordinate with the judging corp to work out the actual rules and durations of the contest.
As an extra note, if this does work out, I'd like to use this to work out a standard contest rules packet to use for every contest (with modifications as needed, of course) on the board.
