You know - I started reading this comic line not too long after they started it up a couple of years ago. I read the G1 story arcs & then started reading the ongoing series. After getting a fair share under my belt, I realized something:
This comic isn't very good at all.
I think that Dreamwave's writers have tried to please too many fans. They try to play to all audiences - the pre-movie fans, the post movie fans, the movie fans, the "I want to see more of so and so" fans, etc....
The writing isn't really that great & doesn't have that feel the old comics or episodes did. I kept reading it because it was basically giving me another dose of the original Transformers that I wanted after the cartoon ended. I guess at some point I woke up & realized that the nostalgia feel had ended, and I actually wanted decent stories/development, etc.
And while many found the War Within interesting....I found it pretty dull.
Does anyone else read the comic? What are your thoughts on it? Like it? Hate it? So-so? Please explain your answer.

I do read it. i have never tried to compare it to the cartoon, movie or anything else G1....I just looked at it like it was a different style comic, which had G1 characters. I haven't read #6 yet, but I plan on getting that done this weekend on my way to San Antonio....I don't think it is that bad. I actually like the writintg, but I am not a strict G1 person, and my full blown knowledge of G1 probably doesn't compare to many of you on the board that are die hards for G1. I also liked the War Within...got a little confusing in some parts, but overall I liked it. I have always liked the G1 characters, but as you all know..I also like BW, Armada, and Energon....I am probably not the best judge of whether a storyline is good or not, but IMO, if I was satisfied when reading it, then it was a good story...and that is kind of where I am at...I always look forward to the next issue...

That's an interesting thing to point out - I know that gunman has also said "anything Transformers" & shares the interest in the various Transformers toy lines, cartoons, etc...over time.
Perhaps it is my die hard G1 nature that causes me to look at it in a different manner.

I enjoyed the first two volumes of G1 - a nice alternate to the movie and subsequently season 3. Volume 3, though, got me started off on the wrong foot ..... what the heck is with the sudden Sunstorm hype? Hasbro took an unnamed one-shot background character and licensed him into HOC, Universe, and the G1 comic! Its nice that they are expanding the G1 cast, but don't make a huge blitz out of an unestablished and rather over the top character. I'll give the next story arc a chance, but at this point I'm waffling on continuing the regular G1 line. The War Within has been mostly good, though the second story was a little odd and hard to follow. Hopefully all this has been done to build up on the apparent "religious" (for lack of a better term) beliefs of the Transformers. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with the BW mini-series .....
